Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for competent Vaccinator for Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan – Gilgit/Astore/Diamer- Region.

Role and  Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer routine vaccines to children focusing on 0-23 months and pregnant women at fixed, outreach and mobile center following national EPI guidelines and protocols.
  • In coordination with district EPI team, plan and conduct regular monthly outreach vaccination sessions to trace and cover missed, zero dose and defaulter children.
  • Provide health education and counselling to parents on immunization schedule, next dose visits and management of common AEFI events at home.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling and transportation of vaccines under proper cold chain during fixed, outreach and mobile vaccination campaigns.
  • Record and monitor daily temperature of EPI fridge at health facility to ensure effective cold chain maintenance of vaccines and diluents as per national EPI guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate record of vaccine stock and distribution to prevent stock outs.
  • Collaborate with the health team including the EPI staff, WHO/UNICEF and project staff to ensure provision of high-quality immunization services to the community.
  • Daily record and maintain vaccination data in tally sheet, daily and permanent registers as well as enter the coverage data in NEIR and SNIP application and prepare monthly coverage reports in line with EPI guideline.
  • Calculate monthly coverage and dropout rates along with the list of defaulters, missed and zero dose children for outreach vaccination planning and service delivery. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with AKRSP team, LHWs and district EPI management team (DSV) for planning and implementing monthly outreach vaccination sessions in the community.
  • Participate in capacity building training and monthly EPI review meetings.
  • Perform other relevant tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the AKHSP program team.

Required Skills

Education, Experience & Competencies

  • Intermediate preferably graduation
  • Valid diploma/ certificate in medical technician/ nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institute
  • Minimum 1-2 -years of hands-on experience in routine immunization in EPI
  • Should have strong knowledge and understating of immunization principles, including safe vaccine preparation, administration and cold chain management
  • Ability to work under pressure with pressing deadlines
  • Should be polite, respectful and courteous to the patients, community and to those who are in authority.
  • Ability to speak and understand local languages
