Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Resident Engineer (MEP) with a minimum of eight years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering across various projects. Experience with rehabilitation projects will be considered a significant advantage.

Role and  Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Systems Management: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, backup power systems, and ICT systems. Ensure compliance with IEC, NEC, and local standards.
  • Plumbing & Drainage Systems: Supervise the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems, including water supply, sewerage, stormwater, and water storage. Ensure proper integration of pumps, valves, pressure systems, and backflow preventers in line with ASHRAE, NFPA, and local plumbing regulations.
  • MEP Works Execution & Quality Control: Lead the execution and quality assurance of MEP works, ensuring all electrical and plumbing systems align with approved drawings, specifications, and project timelines.
  • Coordination & Integration: Collaborate with mechanical and civil teams to ensure smooth coordination between MEP systems, ensuring proper clearance, space management, and system integration.
  • Rehabilitation Works: Manage the rehabilitation of existing electrical and plumbing systems, ensuring upgrades meet current building codes and operational needs. Provide recommendations to optimise system performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • System Testing & Commissioning: Oversee the testing and commissioning processes for electrical and plumbing systems, including system performance checks, fault identification, and troubleshooting during and after installation.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Record and report any deviations from project specifications and implement corrective actions. Provide technical support and solutions for on-site issues.
  • Submittals & Approvals: Review and approve electrical and plumbing submittals, material approvals, shop drawings, and method statements
     

Required Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, switchgear, etc.) and plumbing systems (potable water, waste, drainage, gas, etc.), with experience in rehabilitation and retrofits.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and plumbing issues on-site.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute detailed electrical and plumbing drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
  • Proficiency in project management software to monitor progress and manage resources effectively.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage contractors and project teams.
  • The ideal candidate must hold a BSc in Electrical Engineering and have a minimum of eight years of relevant experience. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project is required for effective project management.
