Job Summary
General Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of agricultural and Rural projects, ensuring that they meet objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact between different Poverty programs, stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, agricultural experts, vendors, and local farmers.
- Capacity Building & Training: Organize and implement training programs for farmers and rural communities to build skills in modern agricultural practices and business development.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of project activities, including seed distribution, procurement, and resource allocation. Provide regular reports on progress, challenges, and outcomes.
- Problem Solving: Address project-related issues, risks, or delays by implementing mitigation strategies and ensuring smooth project execution.
- Data Management: Collect, analyze, and report on data related to agriculture initiatives, providing valuable insights for continuous improvement.
Specific Responsibilities:
Farmer Identification & Verification:
- Oversee the process of identifying and verifying farmers/community members eligible for the project, ensuring compliance with project guidelines and eligibility criteria.
Seed Distribution & Procurement:
- Oversee the procurement process for seeds and agricultural inputs from approved vendors, ensuring compliance with project standards and requirements.
- Coordinate the timely distribution of seeds and materials to participating farmers, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
Supply Chain Management for Harvesting:
- Manage the supply chain activities related to harvesting, including the transportation, and timely delivery of production.
- Ensure that logistics for post-harvest handling, including storage and processing, are in place to maximize the value of the harvest.
Resource Allocation to Farmers:
- Ensure that resources, including seeds, tools, and technical assistance, are allocated effectively to farmers and other project participants based on need and project objectives.
- Coordinate training and field visits to support farmers in the proper use of allocated resources, ensuring optimal agricultural outcomes.
Creation and Support of Farmer Enterprise Groups (FEGs):
- Create and implement rural support programs aimed at empowering rural communities and improving economic opportunities.
- Support the establishment of community-based groups or cooperatives, including Farmer Enterprise Groups (FEGs), providing them with training, resources, and support to enhance their collective bargaining power and improve productivity.
- Monitor the activities of FEGs, ensuring they are functioning effectively and in alignment with the project's goals.
Coordination with Agricultural Departments, Donors, Stakeholders:
- Collaborate and work closely with relevant government departments, agriculture departments, Donors, and Stakeholders, ensuring that the project activities are aligned.
Budget & Financial Monitoring:
- Track and monitor the project budget, ensuring that expenses are within the approved financial framework.
- Prepare financial reports as required by the program and other key stakeholders.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Regularly monitor the progress of all project activities, identifying any issues or risks that may affect delivery.
- Report on the project’s outcomes, including the impact on local farmers, seed distribution effectiveness, and overall agricultural productivity.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all project activities adhere to relevant agricultural standards, environmental regulations, and quality assurance protocols.
- Implement best practices in procurement and resource management to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Training & Capacity Building:
- Coordinate training programs for farmers to enhance skills in modern farming techniques, resource management, and business operations.
Facilitate workshops and field visits to enhance farmers' skills and improve productivity.
Required Skills
Qualifications & Skills:
- Educational Requirements: A degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Project Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1 years of experience in project coordination or agricultural development, with a focus on seed distribution, procurement, supply chain management, and resource allocation.
Knowledge and Expertise:
- Experience working with agricultural departments, projects, and rural development projects.
- Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, harvesting logistics, and post-harvest management.
- Familiarity with the creation and management of Farmer Enterprise Groups (FEGs).
Skills:
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex tasks and mitigate risks.
