Job Summary

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Blood Collection: Draw blood samples from patients for medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research.
  • Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain procedures, and address any concerns or questions to ensure comfort and cooperation.
  • Preparation: Prepare patients and the collection site, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
  • Labeling: Accurately label blood samples with patient information and prepare them for transportation to the laboratory.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of blood draws and patient information.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain phlebotomy equipment and work areas to ensure a safe and sterile environment.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety protocols to prevent infection and ensure patient and staff safety.

Required Skills

Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in phlebotomy.
  • Proficient in venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques, strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling and labeling.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in venipuncture and other blood collection techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in labeling and handling blood samples to ensure accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication to explain procedures and reassure patients.
  • Patient Care: Compassionate and patient-focused, with the ability to ease patient anxiety.
  • Dexterity: Steady hands and good coordination for performing blood draws.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
