Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for competent OT Technician based in Aga Khan Hospital, Gilgit.
Role and Responsibilities:
Routine Tasks:
- Acts as a circulating/scrub person and support new staff for their orientation
- Follows manufacturer’s instructions related to handling, cleaning and safety checks of all the equipment/instruments
- Ensures completion of all pre-operative documentation as per approved protocol
- Responsible for maintaining equipment and report faults or damage to relevant departments and OR In-charge
- Checks pre-operative patients as per approved policy and procedure
- Ensures the availability of CSSD and other supplies/drugs used during emergency in OR, Minor OR and document in over sheet
- Prepares operation trolley and makes sure the availability of properly sterilized instruments at the time of each operation
- Keeps the operation theatre ready for emergency round the clock and follows operation schedules strictly
- Makes a list of procedures and provides to relevant departments one day prior
- Ensures timely availability of sterile sets and their maintenance
- Makes sure the cleanliness and disinfection of Operation Rooms
- Maintains record of all types of operation and stock register of instruments, drugs, anesthetics and heavy equipment.
- Ensures proper handing over of post Operative patients to recovery staff and document in nursing notes
- Replenish all consumable, surgical equipment, linen and drugs regularly to prevent shortages
- This position description is not exhaustive and the incumbent may be requested to perform any reasonable task requested by the Manager Nursing and Midwifery and OT In-charge.
Recovery Room
- Receives and shifts patients in out from and to OR and other units respectively
- Performs immediate post operative care to patients and document in MR file
- Completes pre and post op checklists
Minor Procedure Room/HDU/Endoscopy
- Assists Medical officer/consultant in performing minor procedures and dressings of the patients from the inpatient and OPD.
- Assists nurses for nursing procedures as and when needed
- Informs any findings to the concerned RN/doctor
- Assists doctors in different Endoscopic procedure e.g. gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, dilatation, sclerotherapy, band-ligation, and peg insertion
- Undertakes any other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
Required Skills
Education, Experience & Competencies
- Diploma or certification of Operation Theatre Technician
- 2 Year experience as OT technician in secondary/tertiary Care hospitals
- Has a commitment to quality and accuracy and is keen to learn and develop new skills.
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
- Is aware of ISO 9001-2015 policies and protocols, OR and Nursing protocols and Infection control protocol
- Competent in the care of ventilated patients and patients on life support systems.
- Proficient in the use of electronic patient monitoring technology and certified in CPR course
