Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for competent Lady Health visitor (LHV) for Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan – Gilgit/Astore/Diamer- Region.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide high quality essential newborn care at health facility, including vital signs, cord clamping, breathing assessment, skin-to-skin contact, early initiation of breastfeeding, thermal regulation, breastfeeding, infection prevention, recognition of danger signs and timely referral when needed.
- Deliver essential antenatal, delivery and postnatal care and maternal health services to mothers including but not limited to nutritional screening, growth monitoring, counseling on health diet and rest, Tetanus Toxoid (TT) vaccination during pregnancy, family planning, breast feeding and safe delivery practices.
- Assess child immunization status and provide immunizations according to age and schedule in coordination with EPI staff when required.
- Conduct nutrition screening of children under 5 and mothers through Anthropometry measurement and monitor child growth and development during follow up visits.
- Plan and conduct awareness and counselling sessions on healthy nutrition, IYCF practices, family planning, regular ANC and PNC visits, institutional delivery and routine immunization with a focus on the coverage of zero dose, missed and defaulter children at health facility and in the community during outreach clinics.
- Perform vaccination and nutrition screening in outreach clinics with Lady Medical Officer (LMO).
- With the support of LMO, identify high risk and complicated pregnancies and malnourished children (SAM & MAM) and mothers and ensure timely referral from field to the advance care facilities.
- Collect, compile, maintain and report high quality immunization and nutrition data from the facility and field to supervisor and central office as necessary.
- Maintain robust collaboration and coordination with all partners including the DoH, WHO/UNICEF, BISP/WFP to ensure the provision of high-quality immunization and nutrition services.
- Perform other relevant tasks and responsibilities assigned by the program team
Required Skills
Education, Experience & Competencies
- Diploma in LHV/Midwifery or Registered Nurse (RN) from a recognized nursing institution
- Registered with Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC)
- Minimum 1-2 -years of experience in maternal and child health especially MNCH, Nutrition and Immunization.
- Should have a strong understanding and knowledge of MNCH and nutrition
- Ability to work under pressure with pressing deadlines
- Should be polite, respectful and courteous to the patients, community and to those who are in authority.
- Ability to speak and understand local languages
