Job Summary

Background: Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for competent Head Nurse for Aga Khan Hospital, Gilgit.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures implementation of Nursing quality assurance and customer satisfaction, Nursing policies and procedure, Service excellence and Infection control protocols
  • Supervises new staff for their orientation and provide mentorship to nurses being a role model
  • Involve in recruitment of nurses in coordination with RHR
  • Ensures availability and functioning of equipment and supplies in the clinical unit.
  • Prepares annual plans with Manager Nursing and Midwifery and reviews timely and make changes
  • Plan, organize and conduct meetings and trainings for nursing staff.
  • Participate in planning and preparing annual budget for clinical unit.
  • Prepare reports on time and forwarded to the concern department
  • Makes daily rounds with staff and clinicians to monitor the quality of patient care
  • Ensures due care is provided to the patients and documented as per policy.
  • Assigns nursing staff according to patient care needs, nursing competency and staff development.
  • Coordinates with clinicians for patient care, treatment regimens to ensure safety and quality.
  • Ensure effective and efficient staffing and scheduling to provide 24hrs coverage to the unit.
  • Monitors inventory of the relevant areas to ensure availability and effective utilization of the resources
  • Consults with Manager Nursing and Midwifery for unit management affairs.
  • Collaborates with other departments, and CHCs to maintain smooth working relationship.
  • Maintain cleanliness and Housekeeping of respective unit in coordination with relevant department
  • Assists Manager Nursing and Midwifery for nursing and midwifery development activities.
  • Act as active member of the management team to ensure achievement of set targets
  • Perform any other assignment by Manager Nursing and Midwifery.

Required Skills

Education, Experience & Competencies

  • 3 years Nursing Diploma or BScN
  • Minimum 2 year experience as nursing team leader/in charge in any Clinical unit
  • I/V cannulation Certification & Medication Administration.
  • Trained in service excellence
  • Certified in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
  • Fluent in speaking English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have learning attitude toward continues improvement
  • Must have ability to lead and manage people (leadership abilities)
