Job Summary
Role and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the National Council is performing according to it's constitutional mandate of Social Governance and Coordination of the Institutions.
- Assist National Council President and Vice Presidents in carrying out their duties.
- Day-to-day operation of the National Council.
- Strategic planning.
- Submission of OS&B.
- Manage correspondence between National Council and DJI.
Major Tasks:
- Preparation of Objectives and Strategies papers as well as associated budgets for National and Local Councils.
- Monitor the progress of Institutional activities to ensure that they are consistent with the annual Objectives and Strategies.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Secretariat, including supervision of staff, institutional reporting requirements and timelines, meetings, develop agendas and establish priorities of such meetings, etc.
- Management of the correspondence between National Council and (a) Local Councils, (b) Other Institutions.
- Performance evaluation of staff and developing plans for their professional development.
- Delegation and distribution of tasks and projects as necessary.
- Production of periodic reports and proposals and where necessary, carrying out research as necessary for various planning documents and project proposals received from Institutions
- Assist the NC President in responding to various national and international initiatives. Providing guidance and input as required.
- Maintain extensive contact with and provide support to NC President and Vice Presidents.
- Collaboration with Financial Officer, NC Members, and Chairs of other Institutions
- Participate in various committees, representing institutional interests.
Required Skills
Qualifications and Experience:
- University degree in Economy, Business Administration or Law, with relevant experience. MBA/Master's degree is preferred
- At least 5 years of leadership and general management of large institutions (ideally non-profit)
- Experience in working with Institutions is a plus and/or knowledge and experience with volunteer and programme management
- Sound leadership and team management experience
- Strong administrative, analytical and project management skills
- Basic understanding of financial documents
- Excellent oral communication skills in English with the ability to dialogue with Senior Executives of AKDN Institutions as well as the Department and Institutions (DJI).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English including public speaking, report writing, and developing and delivering training to a variety of audiences
- Fluency in Arabic is preferred.
- Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines, balance numerous projects simultaneously.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point).
