Job Summary: Dialysis technician performs the task of doing dialysis of inpatients and outpatients, handling dialysis machine, disinfection of the room and machine, preparation of equipment before procedure, maintaining documentation before and after procedure.,
Job Responsibilities:
Greeting patients, performing patient assessments, reviewing dialysis orders, notes, physical and mental condition of patients through observation and interviews
document data to determine compliance to dietary, review lab work, and work with team to develop patient care plans.
Responsible for improving dialysis processes
Develop training and education tool for dialysis staff that clarifies policies and procedures and increases proficiencies in job
Develop orientation manual for dialysis staff
Initiate and administer hemodialysis treatment via subclavian catheters, A-V grafts and fistulas, administer parental, fluid therapy, blood products.
Provided diabetes, hypertension, and nutritional education to hemodialysis patients
Provided nursing care for patients in the acute and chronic hemodialysis
Record, interpret and report patient responses and collaborate with appropriate members of the interdisciplinary care team
Provided patient and family teaching
Document and maintain assigned primary patient charts.
Prepare, monitor and maintain dialysis machines and system.
Ensure timely calibration of dialysis equipment
Ensure availability and replacement of supplies in the unit
Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of dialysis unit, machine and other equipment
Ensure implementation of infection control measure to avoid transmission of infection to patient.
Responsible for taking inventory of supplies, replenishing stock as needed,
Manages patient stress by patiently explaining procedures, answering questions and providing assistance
Perform any other task assigned by the supervisor
Required Skills Education, Experience & Competencies
Diploma in Haemodialysis
2-years’ experience as a Dialysis Technician
Ability to speak and understand job related English, sufficient to carryout nursing care instructions.
Demonstrate polite and courteous behavior at all time.
Demonstrate positive attitude to those in authority.
Ability to give oral instructions / information to patients and visitors in Urdu
Computer skills
Basic Life Support course
